Off to the Show

We are heading out. Cassidy is more excited than any other time, maybe it’s because school is out for summer? Jacob is not so happy; he thinks his cast will take away from his performance. Of course he has no clue that a horse of his own awaits him in the morning. I can’t wait to see his face!

Next Week

Next week we are going to combine the kids’ horse show with a vacation. It’s going to be about a five hour drive and it is the first week of summer break. It will be slightly more expensive than I had wanted due to having to board the horses, but I think it will be fun. There are several historical attractions and a water park nearby. I need to start packing now. :)

Jacob and School

With only one week left of school for the year, Jacob will be missing the first 3 days. He has decided that he shouldn’t have to go back at all. Ha, ha. He was then told by is father if he can continue riding lessons on Thursday, he CAN go to school. In a week we will be heading out to Colorado for a week to visit with my brother-in-law and his family. I can not wait!

Horses can be Dangerous

We had our first horse related injury yesterday. Jacob was riding after his lesson and as he came around the side of the barn something spooked his horse. When the horse reared back, Jacob fell. I am happy to report the only broken bone was his arm. It scared me to death, but Jacob thinks he is oh so very “kewl” now. His lessons will need to be modified for the next few weeks, but his teacher seems to think they can work around the arm. All in a days work. :)

Winning

Cassidy and Jacob did so very well this past weekend. Cassidy finished 2nd in her class and Jacob got 4th in his class. Jacob was thrilled with his ribbon and I am very proud of him. Cassidy on the other hand is so worried about winning that she is not actually enjoying herself. I was afraid of this happening; I want this to be fun. I want all my children to know that winning isn’t everything and that you don’t always win. Just because you aren’t number 1, doesn’t mean you aren’t a winner.

Packing for A Show

If packing everything for Cassidy wasn’t enough to remember, packing for Jacob is. I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like getting two horses ready! We went yesterday and purchased a beautiful halter to match Jacob’s outfit. I hope he gets a ribbon this evening. Cassidy is very nervous about this show. I have a feeling it’s because of several cute “cowboys” that are most definitely going to be there. If Cassidy can relax a little, this will be a much better experience for us all. :)

Two Show Horses

Since Jacob is doing so well, we are going to purchase a horse for him. We are going to contact the farm where we purchased Cassidy’s horse and see what we can work out. He is soooooo excited. There is a show this weekend and we are going to let him use Cassidy’s horse for the halter group. He is so proud!

Great Day for a Little Trip

I know I have mentioned day trips before, but it is always worth mentioning again. Day trips are great, even on short notice! This morning my husband I just looked at each other and said “day trip” at the same time. So, we are loading everyone and everything up and going to a nearby historical park for the day. I do have to make a stop at the store to get some bread, but everything for lunch is already on hand. This is one of the times that keeping extras in the vehicle comes in very handy. We can just pack lunch and go! Everyone has been working so hard a day of family fun is in order.

Such Talent

I must brag a little! Jacob is doing fantastically! The young man giving Jacob the lessons can not stop praising Jacob’s natural ability. He said he has NEVER seen a child so young learn so fast and settle in so easily. Between Jacob and Cassidy I feel so much pride I could bust. Anyone else want to brag about your kids???

Jacob

We have signed Jacob up for horse back riding lessons. He is so into watching Cassidy and is begging to be able do some shows. He is growing up so very fast. He starts today and I think he got out of bed before me!

Little Rachel

It seems that Rachel is allergic to several things, but not severely allergic to any one thing. This works in her favor and the doctor seems to think that she will grow out of most of them. In the meantime we have to keep her away from the dogs as much as possible and keep her inside when we mow. The doctor gave her some low dose allergy medication and it has made a world of difference. I am still debating whether to give her allergy shots or not. Time will tell.

Rachel

I am taking my sweet Rach to the doctor today. I think she has some fairly sever allergies. Her eyes are so red and watery and she is so congested. Bless her heart, Jacob has a minor allergy to peanut butter, but I am afraid we are going to find she has more than one allergy. Time to get her ready to go and get out the door.
