About the Ski Resort

Wow, what a fantastic ski trip! I’ve just been so busy since we got back I haven’t had time to write until now. Anyway, I guess when I last posted I hadn’t yet decided where we would go. It wasn’t easy, but I found a ski resort with something for everyone!

Ready to Ski Again

We are home and now we are ready to load up and go back! Since there are still some days left in winter break I think we will go ski again. This time closer to home. I would love to find someplace more handicap friendly.

The Fun is Over

We head home tomorrow. So tonight we are going to the main lodge and visit with new friends and drink lots of cocoa. I must say this is something we are going to do again. This has to be one of the best vacations we have had. The sooner we go on another ski vacation the better. :)

Back to the Slopes

Most of the roads are open and it has made it possible for people who were stranded to leave. We once again have our room to ourselves. Cassidy is very upset, but I am sure she will recover. We are off to ski!

Vermont

After hearing of the Edwards’ yearly family ski trip, I was inspired. I called my brother and sister and we have officially decided to meet and ski every year. They are all on the east coast so we are going to meet up in Vermont. I had thought we would start our family vacation next year, but looks like we will be heading to Vermont in January. I have to start planning as January is almost here!

The Edwards

The family that is “rooming” with us are so fun. They are actually from West Virginia and flew out here to ski with relatives from California. The other part of the family were held up and are now safely at home. In the meantime, we have all become fast friends. Cassidy and the Edwards’ oldest daughter Emily are best friends FOREVER! Somehow for a preteen/teenager nothing is temporary, it is always forever. It’s nice to watch the girls and remember being so young myself. Did I always think everything was forever?

Flying With Kids

Family vacations, sooner or later, will require flying with your kids. With all the changes since 9/11 flying with kids could be challenging. The best advice would be to plan and prepare well for the journey, and then be patient with the authorities, with your kids and with the other travellers.

Blizzard

Lucky for us, we had wanted to stay for awhile. Due to the terrible weather, many people have been stranded here and this has created very cramped conditions for everyone. Seems that on the day roads became impassable, as many people were checking out as there were checking in. We have allowed a couple with 2 children “room” with us. 5 children in all! It’s like a constant slumber party! Ha, ha,ha.

Let it Snow

I just wanted to share that we are having a FANTASTIC time. I think this had been the best vacation in a long time. I am so worn out! I have so many good things to say about where we are staying that it deserves a blog of it’s own.

Welcome To My Family Travel Blog

null

As a mother of four, I know that it can be difficult to find an affordable family vacation that the whole family will enjoy. And sometimes you just don’t have the time or the money for a long getaway.

Family vacation planning can also be very difficult when you have a large family, a family with kids who are spread out in age, or a family where different members have different needs. In my family, we have all three issues.

Kids grow up so fast! Now is the time to enjoy memorable vacations with them. I hope you enjoy this blog about our vacation adventures with our kids. Please feel free to come back often and share your comments and travel adventures with us!

For your convenience, I can also email you our latest updates! As a “thank you” gift for signing up for our email updates, I will send you a copy of my Online Family Travel Resource Guide. To get your copy, click here!

Happy travels from my family to yours!

Joanne

Where to Go

I still can’t decide where to go, and since we will most likely leave tomorrow, I better make my mind up. The kids would ski in the backyard if it were steep enough. I think I may be more excited than they are. :0

Family Road Trip Tips

I love a family road trip. Even with six people in our family, I can’t resist the lure of loading the whole family up and going on a road trip. Since we live in Colorado, we’re pretty centrally located for a lot of great attractions and have a bunch of family road trip experience. Here are some of the things we have learned. (more…)

Winter Break

Winter break is fast upon us, so what to do? Go skiing of course! There are some wonderful places to go close by, but I think we may venture a little further and make it a winter vacation to remember! Actually this will be almost as long as most of our summer vacations, about 2 weeks. Skiing is one of those activities that the whole family enjoys. It’s not very expensive and even the youngest of children can get out on the bunny hills. If you have never taken your children to ski, you should seriously consider it!

Sometimes

Sometimes no matter what you do, what precautions you take…you get sick. Seems like I have a cold. :( I am not a very happy camper.

Winter Travel

Winter is upon us and recent news has been a grave reminder of travel tips for winter.

1. Always have blankets in your car, van or truck.

2. Keep a small supply of snacks or food of some type in the car at all times.

3. Keep a small battery operated radio in your glove box.

4. Keep at least a day or two supply of water in your car. ( the trunk may be a bad idea in the case you are unable to reach your trunk.)

5. Make sure your cell phone is fully charged. You can’t call if your battery is dead.

6. If you don’t know the area or how far you are from homes, stores, towns, etc. Don’t leave your car!

Stay safe out there!

Short Notice Trips

We had a family emergency and had to take off suddenly. This is when the extras kept in the car come in the most handy. One other thing I realized is that I have the best neighbors in the world. If that had not been here to look after the horses I hate to think of what could have happened. We have already had snow and very cold weather. We just got in and now it’s time to unpack and do some laundry. After all a womans work is never done. Ha, ha, ha.
